The Granado Institute of Polyacrylonitrile Technology (IGPAN) (www.igtpan.com) is an innovation center focused on the development of sustainable solutions for the polyacrylonitrile and acrylic fibers industry, mainly aimed at recycling. Its head office is located in the Industrial Condominium Indusvale in Jacareí, SP. It also depends on a pilot plant with the capacity to process 30 T/month of acrylic waste, located at the Radici Group Industrial Complex in São José dos Campos, SP, Brazil.
- Use of sustainable processes by using recycled and renewable raw materials.
- Rational use of water to save and make better use of the planet's water resources.
- Food production, mainly in regions subject to starvation due to aridity.
One of these lines of research led to the development of Superabsorbent Polymers (SAPs) of the HIDROSILO brand, the first in the world that uses raw materials from the manufacturing process of textile fibers, residues of spinning, weaving and clothing, including discarded clothes and carpets after its useful life.
By an unprecedented process in the world, patented, without the generation of toxic residues, we transform the residues from the acrylic fiber chain into HIDROSILO SAPs with the capacity to store up to 500 times its water mass.
This technology, which has been tested for more than 4 years, has led to the development of agricultural SAPs and SAPs for a variety of different uses, with characteristics different from those existing on the market, by incorporating macronutrients such as Potassium, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Sulfur, Calcium, Magnesium and also micronutrients.
